This lever system from a USA based company http://www.focusshifter.com seems like a great way smoothly pull focus – unlike a few of the other ones I looked at it works with lenses of any diameter – really great for this Nikon 55mm 2.8 MACRO AIS although there didn’t seem to be an immediately obvious way of attaching the guides on this 1960s wonder and working in macro on this rotting tree trunk magnified any juddery focus changes.
